I just wanted to drive something by you since you probably know a lot more about the topic than i do.
I'm working on a few changes to the home page to make it more up-to-date, and one of those changes is adding all the different enemy types in a new template below the game modes, so i need to make sure that most enemies are using official names.
I've read the official manual for Geometry Wars: Galaxies and the included list of enemy types. And so far their names line up with what is listed here on the wiki.
I know that i once used Purple Fan to refer to the Wanderer, so in order to avoid confusion in the future we should agree on one name and format it exactly like this on every page going forward:
Wanderer (also known as Pinwheel, Purple fan or Spinner)
But are there any enemies or gameplay elements introduced in GW3 that are using fan-made names? If there are any, we need to make sure that most of the community agree that it's a term to be used.
If we do need to use a fan-made name for anything, put this template on the top of the page.
Great idea. There are certain enemy types that don't exactly have an official name, especially in GW3. In every other Geometry Wars game I believe the enemies all have official names, so this template may not apply to those. As for enemies like the Blue UFO, however, there's no exact name for it; the template could be used there.
I have made some things today that you should know, just to keep you up to speed.
First of all, i have finished all of the mode icons, so if you ever decide to do a page about a specific game mode, remember that the icons are all on this page; Special:NewFiles. Simply insert them on their respective wiki pages using their URL.
One last thing, the Hardcore Mode table is finished and i have made it so that all of the redlinks for a hardcore level go to a seperate page than the main one(e.g, the hardcore version of Twisted Blister leads to Twisted Blister(Hardcore) instead of simply Twisted Blister).
Since the work you did on the Rainbow page was very good, i'm assuming you know a lot about editing wikis by now, including what i just told you. It wouldn't surprise me if you know more than i do, i just want to make sure that you are aware of all of this. ;)
Thank you for the icons. I am going to get to work on some of the pages, now. After we finish all of the modes, we can move on to adding pages for Enemies, Levels, types of Walls, and other game mechanics. I'm really excited. :D
What do you think of the background and logo by the way? I'm perfectly happy with the logo, but due to size constraints i had to switch the image format for the background from .png to .jpg. That made the background a little blurry, and the image quality looks a little worse, what do you think, is it noticeable?
I just think it's little strange that they would put a 300 KB file size limit on something as extensive as a background, it boggles the mind.
Alright nice, i would help with the pages but right now i have to go to bed, it's very late. Do you want to keep making pages yourself or do you want to split the workload so that i can do some tomorrow? We might as well organize a little so that we look a little professional. ;)
If you want to split the workload then you can decide who of us makes a certain game mode, but like i said, it depends on how many pages you want to make.
Thanks for the edits, especially on the Rainbow page, you've even made the Rainbow mode icon identical to the ones i created for the other modes, amazing work. If you have more edits planned, they would be highly appreciated.
Feel free to give feedback if you feel something is wrong with the wiki, the obvious problems would be the Wiki background and logo, they look horrible. I have personally made new ones in Photoshop, themed after Geometry Wars 3, but i have not yet had the opportunity to change them.
With more great edits like the ones you've made, we should be able to make this wiki a proper one. :)
I have no experience with fanon wikis, so i'm not exactly the person you want to ask, what exactly does that involve?
I know this is a little off-topic, but on a side note, i have been trying to receive Admin rights for this wiki for a while now in order for it to become less inactive and attract more editors. I need to know if you're completely on-board with that idea, have you looked at my contributions and do you personally think i could be Admin?
First of all, a "fanon" wiki is a wiki where you get to share fictional ideas for a video game/book series/TV series/movie series/etc. All of the ideas are created by fans, hence the name, "fanon". There's a fanon wiki for Angry Birds, Nickelodeon, and even Star Wars. Aaaand.. a whole bunch more. These wikis allow for a lot of creativity, and are really good fun.
Second of all, I do think you should be admin, since you did adopt the wiki. You basically run the entire wiki now.
First of all, thank you for the support regarding the admin topic, it's always nice to have my work validated, especially since i have put a lot of effort behind my contributions, even if there are a few kinks here and there. :)
Lastly, i can definetely get behind the idea of a fanon wiki, and i definitely think you should create one if you want to, but the main wiki itself needs a little more work so that it will attract more editors, which in turn will make more editors notice the fanon wiki if one is created. So personally i think you should hold onto that idea until this wiki has become more established, because as you can see it is still very much a work in progress.
