The game was developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 after the success of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and contains many new features, new game modes and graphical improvements.
The soundtrack was once again composed by Chris Chudley from Audioantics, featuring multiple tracks for each specific game modes.
The main objective of Geometry Wars is to survive, and destroy an ever-increasing swarm of enemies in order to reach as high scores a possible.
The game takes place on a so-called "Grid", and the player controls a claw-shaped ship that can move in any direction using the left thumbstick, and can fire in any direction independently using the right thumbstick. The player can also use a Bomb by pressing either the left or the right trigger.
A new feature is the introduction of Geoms into the main scoring system, geoms are small, green objects that incrementally increase the score multiplier when picked up.
There are 6 game modes and each is playable in Single-player along with competitive and co-operative Multi-player.
